Building a culture of safe-tea

In 2025, our LIPTON Jebel Ali factory in Dubai, UAE, reached a remarkable milestone: 7 000 days without a lost-time incident, equivalent to almost 20 years of continuous safety excellence.

This achievement reflects the high standard of employee safety and health in place across our company. Our safety culture emphasises continuous improvement and vigilance, as well as consistent reporting and analysis of hazards and near-miss incidents to enable effective preventive measures. We also use insights gained through regular audits of behaviours and workplace conditions to enhance the work environment and ensure that everyone gets home safely.

Briefings, information boards, newsletters, and reward programmes engage employees in maintaining high safety standards across our factories. Moreover, through our LMS continuous improvement programme, we implement enhancements based on reports and observations, design workstations with ergonomics in mind, and facilitate knowledge-sharing that drives learning and process improvement. This approach reflects our strong commitment to cultivating a safety culture – an essential aspect of crafting great teas.

LIPTON Jebel Ali Factory Director

“In the past 1 000 days, we implemented LMS at Jebel Ali, kept challenging old habits, launched a Safety Champions Programme to support peer-to-peer ownership of safety topics, and expanded our training programmes. These measures complement a decades-long culture in which ‘safety first’ is the only acceptable reality. Having reached this new milestone, we are inspired to keep striving for excellence, recognising that safety is a journey we take together, every single day.”
